PRESS RELEASE

ASEA PRESENTS LEGISLATIVE AWARDS

The Alabama State Employees Association (ASEA) presented Representative Mike Hill with the 2009 Legislator of the Year Award for his outstanding leadership and vision. At the same time, Representative Cam Ward received the ASEA Lester White Award. They received these awards during ASEA’s Annual Convention on Thursday, October 1.

The Legislator of the Year Award is given annually to the legislator in the House and Senate who is most vigilant in protecting state employees’ rights by sponsoring and speaking up for state employee bills. Representative Mike Hill has been a long-time advocate of state employees and has sponsored many pieces of legislation that have positively affected the lives of state employees and their families.

The Lester White Award, named for former ASEA advocate Lester White, was given to Representative Cam Ward for his continued support of state employee issues.

“Through the years, these Legislators have continuously proven themselves to be a true friends of state employees and I can think of nothing more fitting than Representative Mike Hill being presented with the Legislator of the Year Award,” says Mac McArthur, ASEA Executive Director. “Representative Cam Ward exemplifies the same spirit as Lester White and I think he is befitting of the honor.”
